New Testament Proverbs Pt.5- Eternal Life

As we have stated before, proverbs are easier to find in the Old Testament than the New. After all, they have their own book and it has been titled “Proverbs” for easy reference.

But the New Testament is filled with similar pithy comments. Full of the wisdom of the ages and straight from the breath of God, they jump out at you if you will only look for them.

Here we will look at the ones that speak to Eternal Life. The New Testament proverbs speak to both eternal rewards and eternal punishment.

Matthew 5:20 For I tell you that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the Pharisees and the teachers of the law, you will certainly not enter the kingdom of heaven.

Matthew 12:34-37 You brood of vipers, how can you who are evil say anything good? For out of the overflow of the heart the mouth speaks. 35The good man brings good things out of the good stored up in him, and the evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in him. 36But I tell you that men will have to give account on the day of judgment for every careless word they have spoken. 37For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned.”

Matthew 13:12 Whoever has will be given more, and he will have an abundance. Whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken from him.

Matthew 16:26 What good will it be for a man if he gains the whole world, yet forfeits his soul? Or what can a man give in exchange for his soul?
