God is Good #3

When we say that God is good, what do we mean? Have you ever thought about it? Here is how I would reflect on God’s goodness – what do you think?

1.) Moral Purity – 2.) Holiness – 3.) Righteousness – 4.) Justice – 5.) Integrity – 6.) Genuineness – 7.) Veracity – 8.) Faithfulness – 9.) Love – 10.) Benevolence – 11.) Grace – 12.) Mercy – 13.) Persistence  Can you think of any others?

 Genesis 1:31 God saw all that he had made, and it was very good. And there was evening, and there was morning–the sixth day.

Exodus 33:19 And the Lord said, “I will cause all my goodness to pass in front of you, and I will proclaim my name, the Lord, in your presence. I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion.

2 Chron. 5:13 The trumpeters and singers joined in unison, as with one voice, to give praise and thanks to the Lord. Psalm 31:19 How great is your goodness, which you have stored up for those who fear you, which you bestow in the sight of men on those who take refuge in you.

Lament. 3:25 The Lord is good to those whose hope is in him, to the one who seeks him;

Nahum 1:7 The Lord is good, a refuge in times of trouble. He cares for those who trust in him,

Matthew 5:45 that you may be sons of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.

Matthew 7:11 If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!

Matthew 19:17 “Why do you ask me about what is good?” Jesus replied. “There is only One who is good. If you want to enter life, obey the commandments.”

Mark 10:18 “Why do you call me good?” Jesus answered. “No one is good–except God alone.

Acts 14:17 Yet he has not left himself without testimony: He has shown kindness by giving you rain from heaven and crops in their seasons; he provides you with plenty of food and fills your hearts with joy.”

Romans 8:32 He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all–how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?

2 Thes. 1:11 With this in mind, we constantly pray for you, that our God may count you worthy of his calling, and that by his power he may fulfill every good purpose of yours and every act prompted by your faith.

James 1:5 If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him. James 1:17 Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.

2 Peter 1:3 His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness.
